Wallace Lake Description

Located in north west Louisiana at the south edge of Shreveport. It is approximately 2,500 acres in size and is .75 mile wide and 5 miles long. It is a wooded lake good for fishing only. There are several accesses to the lake only on the north side accessed from Wallace Lake Road and Norris Ferry Road. The Corps of Engineers operates one recreational facility at Wallace Lake Dam. Wallace Lake Dam not only provides flood control, but also affords visitors the opportunity to fish, hunt, hike or just relax and enjoy the day outdoors. Wallace Lake is referred to by some folks as the best crappie lake in the area. Fishing is also abundant below the dam. Presently the only boat launch available to the public is located at Milton James Cameron Memorial Park on Wallace Lake Road. No user fees are charged at Wallace Lake Dam Recreation Area. Wallace Lake Dam Recreation Area has a marina, camping, picnic shelters, beach, playground, trails, and even a swimming pool.
